Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A male was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: “It is important that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

“These kinds of products being sold, generally online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no assurance about their safety.

“You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not know the result drugs like this may have on your health.”
